Canal Day is the Association’s opportunity to increase awareness of the great significance the Schuylkill Canal played in our community’s growth and prosperity. Every day is Canal Day for those of us involved with maintaining this great community resource but each year we do reach out to the community at large and ask you to get involved too by being a part of this great day.
SCA is inviting you to show your support of the Schuylkill Canal Association for its continued stewardship and preservation of the canal. All SCA asks for is a minimal donation of $5 per person, children 12 and under are free. Kids events sponsored by SCA are also free; the fishing derby for kids 12 and under with prizes offered by French Creek Outfitters, kids crafts & face painting. A limited number of fishing rods were available for those without equipment and there was plenty of bait and tackle also provided by French Creek Outfitters.

All who attended enjoyed a great deal of fun along the canal all day long.
Highlighted throughout the day were the 19th century industrial history of the Schuylkill Navigation and the recreational features available today along the 3-mile linear greenway maintained on the Schuylkill River’s edge in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County. The Schuylkill Canal Park provides access for boating, fishing and hiking along multiple trails; both land and water, for visitors of all ages and life styles to enjoy.
