I am looking for a good place to "put in" with my 2 kayaks (love these things)! And I want to end up at the parking lot at The Canal.. Anybody have a good spot "upstream" that might take about an hour to ride? Thanks for the tips..

It sounds like you are looking to stay in the canal - "The Loop" is our favorite trip on the water - you can put in at any of the three launches (Longford Road Parking Lot, The Fitz, or at Lock 60). The good thing is you only need one car and don't paddle the same water twice, the bad thing for an hour trip is that it takes about two hours. If you've never done it before, the SCA sponsors LoopFest in the spring and guided loop trips once a month through the summer. Otherwise, I'd recommend putting in at Lock 60 because the dock is very easy to use for getting in/out of your boat. If you want to do "The Loop" either go when the water is at normal levels (not muddy) and, as long as you have some paddling experience, you'll be fine or join us for LoopFest or one of the guided trips. Take a look at the Calendar of Events for the next guided trip. Have fun and be safe!
