The Schuylkill Canal Association welcomes visitors to the Locktender’s House Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00 PM, all year round.  SCA also invites the general public to visit the Schuylkill Canal Park for our various programs typically held on a monthly basis outdoors at Lock 60 on the Schuylkill Canal.  The educational programming is provided to increase awareness of the history of the Schuylkill Navigation and the recreational features included along the park’s 3-mile linear greenway.  Scheduled events are listed on the SCA Online Calendar.

Scheduled openings of Lock 60 are held on the third Sunday of the month at 3:00 PM, weather permitting, shortly after the Locktender’s Open House program has concluded.  Volunteer lock tenders are always needed.

SCA also encourages the general public to attend its Board of Directors meetings and to join one of our working committees; the dates, time and meeting place are also listed on the SCA calendar.

Thanks to the generous support of Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County and the Association’s many sponsors and members admission is free, however donations are gladly accepted to help offset the cost involved with educational programming and outreach.

Programs are subject to change without notice; please visit this page SCA online calendar for the most up-to-date information.

Hey, have you noticed the construction work at Black Rock Dam? blkrockdam.jpg
Are you wondering what is going on? It's a fish passage, being built by Exelon Power, that will assist the American Shad to get past the dam to allow them to reach the upstream waters where they will spawn. Click here to check out the recent pictures that show the fish passage beginning to form. For information about the American Shad and passages visit the PA Fish & Boat Commission.
